Like everyone on our team, Eleanor works under a pen name. The person and the experience behind it are real.

What Eleanor does at Kiddalou

She founded Kiddalou around a simple belief: children's books can support learning without making every page feel like schoolwork. A child might color one page, solve a puzzle on the next, and discover a new animal fact after that, practicing a skill without ever feeling that the fun has stopped.

Her work is shaped by an interest in child development, learning through play, and the way children gradually become more independent learners. On each project, she brings the editorial, educational, illustration, and design work together and keeps asking whether all of it is pulling toward the same goal.

What Eleanor looks for on a page

  • A clear purpose. Every activity is there for a reason, whether that's a skill, a fact, or simply a reason to keep going.
  • Challenge and enjoyment in balance. Enough to think about, never so much that a child gives up.
  • Room to experiment. Space to make mistakes, try again, and follow a new idea.
  • More than one way in. Something to color, something to solve, something to learn, and something worth coming back to.

At home, some of her toughest reviewers are children. They make it very clear when a page is fascinating, and when it isn't.
